Most homeowners benefit from an annual inspection to make sure their solar panel system stays in good condition. Solar systems have no moving parts, but regular maintenance helps protect energy production, catch early signs of wear, and keep your system operating at peak efficiency for decades.
A significant drop in electricity production is usually the biggest indicator. You might also see error messages, a monitoring system alert, or signs of physical damage such as cracks, loose wiring, or animal droppings. If something looks or feels off, it’s a good idea to schedule a professional inspection.
Solar panels are designed to withstand high winds, heavy snow, and cold temperatures, but weather can impact short-term production. Snow usually melts quickly because panels warm up in sunlight. If you notice physical damage after storms or strong winds, our maintenance team can inspect the entire system for safety.
Often, yes. We service many solar energy systems installed by other solar panel companies. Our team is certified by several major manufacturers, though there are some products we cannot service. We’ll review your equipment during an initial intake call to confirm compatibility.
No. Solar panel maintenance is minimal compared to many home technologies. Panels have no moving parts, so most homeowners only need cleaning, annual system checks, and occasional troubleshooting to keep their solar investment performing well.
If you’ve purchased a home with an existing solar energy system, Kokosing Solar can perform a system checkup. We review the entire solar panel system, confirm safe operation, connect you to monitoring, and explain how to keep energy production strong.

Kokosing Solar’s maintenance service includes troubleshooting and repairs, inverter and communication checks, critter guard installation, roof-related support, and a full review of your solar energy system. We look at wiring, monitoring equipment, and overall power output to confirm everything is working as designed.

Yes — light cleaning using clean water from a garden hose and a soft cloth or soft brush is generally safe. Avoid harsh chemicals or high-pressure sprayers that could damage the glass surface. If dirt, bird droppings, or animal debris are affecting your energy output, we can also provide professional solar panel cleaning.

Yes. Inverters and optimizers work harder than solar panels and may need occasional resets or communication checks. Kokosing Solar performs inverter troubleshooting, replacement guidance, and monitoring setup to keep electricity production consistent.

Proper maintenance actually helps protect your solar panel warranty and ensures the fine print is followed. Kokosing Solar offers a 20-year workmanship warranty on systems we install and helps homeowners understand manufacturer coverage for inverters, racking, and other electrical equipment.

Common causes include dirt buildup, shading from trees, animal nesting, damaged wiring, inverter issues, and heavy snow. Weather conditions, strong winds, and natural wear can also affect energy output. Professional inspections help identify the cause quickly.

Yes. Small animals can nest under solar panels, chew wiring, or leave droppings that affect the surface of the panels. Critter guards help protect your entire solar panel system from physical damage and keep long-term maintenance costs lower.
